Prerequisites and Getting Started

For admission to the Graduate School, an applicant must have received, from an accredited institution, a bachelor's degree (3.0 GPA preferred on a 4.0 scale) with requirements substantially equivalent to those at Penn State. (Penn State is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.)
When applying to the Certificate in Disaster Preparedness, you will be asked to submit (upload) the following as part of the online graduate school application:
- Statement of purpose
- Résumé
- The names of 3 recommenders
- Two official transcripts from each institution attendedĀ (to be mailed to the address below)
- Official Graduate Record Exam (GRE) test scores
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score, if applicable

When all materials have been received, we will notify you about your status and provide guidance about the next steps in becoming a Penn State student.
Please note: course enrollment is limited. Students already accepted into the degree and certificate programs will have an opportunity for early registration for courses. Prior or concurrent course enrollment during the degree application process does not guarantee admission to the degree or certificate program.
